And that’s four weeknotes in a row. Let’s hope i’ll get back to regular blogging soon.
Books
Le comte de Monte-Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. At almost 1,500 pages, this was an ambitious way to reacquaint myself with bigger books. The gamble paid off: whilst there are some traces of the original serialization, i’d be hard pressed to find anything to remove, as every seed will eventually grow. It’s all meat (if you allow me to mix metaphors) and it’s delicious.

Movies
Maria by Pablo Larrain. The problem with films within films is that the film within the film is often worse than the film it’s in. As Maria is pretty much nothing but a film within a film, it ends up being a worse film than the film that it could have been. Which is not good, right?
A Minecraft Movie by Jared Hess. “– Are you finished? – No, i think he’s Swedish.” was the best line of the whole… i don’t want to say “movie”, because this “all tell no show” piece of drivel isn’t a movie as much as a collage of memes humourlessly optimized by an army of spreadsheet-wielding boomers. If this is the best that Hollywood has to offer, then we deserve to be swallowed whole by AI.
